Running All Versions of Internet Explorer at The Same Time

As a web developer one of the biggest struggles is checking your work in every browser. With the help of parallels i have been able to run windows on my mac for sometime now to use internet explorer. Problem is, Microsoft only allows you to install one version of IE so you have to pick which one you would like to test in.

Today i found a very straightforward guide that requires downloading 3 files to install that will allow you to run every version of IE at the same time. I installed it and it works great! No need to remote into another machine now to do testing in IE7!

Out With The Old, In With The new?

cds.jpgDriving home from work yesterday something just hit me like a ton of bricks. I looked up at my visor and noticed all of these burned music CDs i used to listen to. It made me realize that i have not touched any of them in over 6 months nor have i turned on my CD player in my car in over 6 months.

What am i doing instead? Listening to my iPhone in my car. I had a line-in input installed which i connect to my iPhone to listen to all my music. It really made me realize that Music CDs are a thing of the past for me now. I doubt i will ever use my CD player again in my car. I think its time to retire the old visor attachment of Music CDs and the booklets of CDs that are eating up my trunk space.

Foo Fighters Concert

foo-fighter-logo-small.jpg
Emily and I went to the Foo Fighters Concert last night at Joe Lois Arena in Detroit. This was one of the greatest things i have ever been to. I have been a huge fan of the Foo Fighters ever since i first heard them when i was around 12 years old. They played an amazing 2 hour set and an additional 3 encore songs. They played non-stop good songs the whole entire time and they didn’t even play all of there best songs because they have so many!

My favorite part of the concert was them dropping an acoustic set on the middle of the floor from a stage that dropped from the ceiling. A long time ago i downloaded an acoustic version of “Ever Long” which the moment i heard it, i said “This would be amazing to hear in real life.” Next thing i know, his last acoustic song was a solo of him singing this song which at the end of it turned out into the rock version of it. Simply Amazing. I can’t imagine a concert that would top this one as they have so many good songs. If you ever get an opportunity to see these guys do your self a favor and go, they put on a hell of a rock show.

Nine Inch Nails pack ($5.49)

iPod Shuffle 2GB; 1GB Price Drop

shuffle-silver.jpgApple just released a 2GB shuffle for $79.00 and slashed the 1GB from $79.00 down to $49.00. What a steal of a price! I never paid attention to the shuffles before, but i would consider purchasing one of these now when i start working out again. Having something so small with just workout music on it is a lot more practical than working out with my iPhone. Especially while running. You could also just leave it in your gym bag so its always there for you. I never understood the purpose of having two devices with two separate libraries in the past, but it makes sense in a situation like working out - the smaller the better.

Blu-ray Wins; HD DVD is Offically Dead (Toshiba Announcement)

So it is finally over!  The format war that is.  Toshiba made an offical announcement stating they will cease production of HD DVD.  A surprising answer from a Q&A states that Toshiba has no current plans to adopt Blu-ray.  I guess they need to let the wounds heal for awhile? Source

Amazing Positive Support From Apple

I installed the newest 10.5.2 update to my MacBook Pro two days ago and ran into a problem. My computer installed it and restarted but it hung on getting to the log-in screen. I posted my problem in the apple discussion board for help and received some information from people. I decided to do an Achieve and install which moves all your existing stuff to a “Previous Systems” folder and does a re-install of Leopard. I then updated it after that and it seemed to be working properly.

Today, one day after my post, i received a a phone call from Scott Player from Apple Care Engineering Software notifying me that he read my post and wanted to call to make sure everything is working properly since he wants to make sure i am not without a computer. I called him back and explained the problem and he sent me an E-mail to send log information from the pervious system so there software engineers can take a look at the problem to see what happen.

This level of support is unbelievable. I have never been treated so well from a company in all my life. This one phone call totally makes up for the inconvenience this caused me. Cheers to Apple for always going the extra mile!
